Layout Management
A Layout preserves workspace widgets, canonical values, placement and configuration. It is the right document for returning to a known bench setup or saving a received snapshot for later simulation.
Save a working snapshot
- Review the current values and widget identities. Stop or disable dynamic sources if you need a stable capture.
- Choose Layout → Save Layout As…. If the Save Type chooser appears, select Layout, then enter a meaningful name.
- Confirm replacement only when you intend to overwrite that saved document.
- Check the resulting Layout identity and retain a separate version before a major experiment.
Saving retains values in canonical units and preserves coordinate and measurement precision. Generator Enable/Dispatch and instrument Enable are saved with the Layout. Saving does not enable external Sending.
Load or replace a workspace
- Use Load Layout… and select the intended document.
- Respond to unsaved-change/replacement protection. Cancel if you need to save the current workspace first.
- After a successful load, inspect identity, source instances, generator states and representative property values.
- Authorize Sending again only after reviewing the new workspace and transport.
If a load is cancelled or the document is invalid, keep using the current Layout. After loading, values remain as saved until you edit them or an enabled generator or received message supplies an update. Zero is a valid update where the field permits it.
Clear widgets versus delete a saved file

Captured vessel Layouts are snapshots. Loading one in Generate does not maintain subscriptions to the original boat, fetch its routes or start Autopilot. Do not distribute snapshots containing private identities or positions without review.
